New Singing Show ‘Sing Cash’ Debuts Team Battle Format, Pitting ‘Voice Dream’ Against ‘Voice Show’ in High-Stakes Vocal Face-Off

The popular television singing competition “Sing Cash,” hosted by Sam Mei and Eric Kwok, launched its highly anticipated Team Battle version on Tuesday night, delivering a nerve-wracking Round 1 showdown between two formidable teams of young vocalists. The episode pitted eight rising stars from the first season of “Voice Dream” and the “Voice Show” talent programs against each other in a high-pressure contest where every second and every note counted.

The “Voice Dream” team featured Chantel Yiu, Windy Jim, Rock Ho, and Archie Sin, while the “Voice Show” team comprised Ophelia O, Jenny Zhen, Ryan Fung, and Matt Hu. The revamped format introduced a scoring system where the Sing Board’s Level 1 through 8 numbers were converted into corresponding points, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Even successful challenges did not guarantee points, as each team was granted one “skill activation” per episode, allowing them to compete for the same level’s score against their opponents.

The tension was palpable from the start. In a pivotal moment, Chantel and Windy activated their team’s skill to challenge Ophelia and Jenny’s completed Level 6 classic karaoke hit “Light Bulb,” successfully stealing the six points for “Voice Dream.” This early setback set the tone for a fiercely competitive episode.

Ophelia and Jenny faced an uphill battle from the beginning. In their first round, they attempted the Level 4 male-female duet “In the Wind and Rain,” but Jenny and her teammate Matt missed the passing mark by a razor-thin 0.02 seconds, leaving everyone in the studio stunned. The duo struggled until Ophelia delivered a stunning 91.7% composite score on the extremely difficult song “Thorn Sea,” finally earning “Voice Show” their first points.

As the “Voice Show” team continued to trail, they chose to risk everything on the “Monster” song “We Want to Be Together” in a desperate bid to catch up. The leading “Voice Dream” team, represented by Chantel and Windy, accepted the challenge. Chantel, who had been visibly nervous throughout the competition, performed steadily in the first half but stumbled at the most critical moment, missing the passing mark by just 0.22 seconds. Host Sam Mei expressed sympathy, noting, “The hardest parts were already overcome.” For Ophelia and Jenny, their attempt ended after only the second line, securing a decisive victory for the more experienced “Voice Dream” team.

The new Team Battle format injects fresh energy into the competition, adding layers of strategy and unpredictability. With the skill activation system and the ultra-competitive point structure, every episode promises high drama and unexpected twists. As the contest continues, fans can expect even more intense musical battles, with each team vying for supremacy and the chance to claim the title of ultimate vocal champions. The next episode, airing this week, will feature Round 2, where the stakes will be even higher.
