Hong Kong—The second season of TVB’s romantic reality series “Goddess Matchmaking Plan 2,” hosted by Bob Lam, is set to premiere this Sunday (October 6), bringing a slate of upgrades in sets, cinematography, contestant styling, and game mechanics. The production team released new promotional photos and introductory videos on Wednesday for the five female contestants: Roxanne Ho, Mandy Yuen, Amber Chan, Kanis Yu, and Juliana Kwok, while also teasing key romantic set pieces for the season.
In the promotional clips, each contestant appears in a distinct look: Ho in a lake-blue evening gown, Yuen in a floral halter dress, Chan in lace, Yu in a pink princess tulle dress, and Kwok in a sleek white off-shoulder gown. They candidly share their views on love. Ho, exuding sweetness with a smile, a blown kiss, and hand-heart gestures, embodies a goddess-like charm. Among the five, Amber Chan boasts the most dating experience, with five past relationships. Despite her cheerful Japanese-style demeanor in the video, Chan reveals a hidden loneliness. “People always think I’m optimistic and happy,” she says, “but inside, I often feel alone. What I really hope for is to find someone who truly understands, cherishes, and cares for me.” The contrast highlights her deeper emotional side. Fellow contestant Kanis Yu describes herself as both independent and clingy, expressing hope that the show will help her rediscover trust in love and enjoy a relationship where she feels valued.
The production design this season sees significant enhancements. The stage where goddesses select their potential partners has been transformed into a more lavish and romantic setting. The contestants were visibly impressed by the first filming location. “Being in such a dreamy space filled with flowers really helps you get into the romantic mood,” Ho said. “Meeting someone in this fantasy world feels like being in a dream.” Yuen joked that stepping onto the set gave her the sensation of being proposed to. Juliana Kwok, who projects sweet confidence in the promotional video, showed a playful side on set, greeting other contestants like a little girl and laughing after realizing she had walked the wrong way. She humorously asked if she should restart her entrance.
The show’s iconic triangular dating table from Season 1 has been upgraded to a five-sided table, with the number of chairs increased from four to ten, adding complexity and tension to the interactions. The fan-favorite matching segment also returns, featuring an ornate telephone booth set that promises a visually refreshed experience.
With a blend of upgraded aesthetics and emotionally candid contestants, “Goddess Matchmaking Plan 2” aims to offer audiences a deeper, more polished look at modern romance in a reality TV format. The show airs Sundays on TVB.
