Three stops, elderly dance partners, and plans for a new group song mark the boy band’s latest public appearance.
HONG KONG – Yesterday (4 November), three members of the rising boy band ZPOT – Kwan Hiu Lung (Bosco), Chan Ting Hei (Ian Hannz), and Lam Cheuk Yin (Marcus) – launched a three-stop flash mob event dubbed “BANG IS EVERYWHERE” across Hong Kong, performing their high-energy new single BANG and surprising fans with an intergenerational dance collaboration. The group mingled with hundreds of supporters, known as Zpotlight, at multiple locations, turning city sidewalks into impromptu stages.

The trio kicked off the event at Tsim Sha Tsui with a live sing-and-dance performance of BANG, then moved to a pedestrian zone in Causeway Bay for the second stop. At each location, they distributed limited-edition BANG-themed selfie photo cards and, in a highlight of the day, joined 11 elderly women for a coordinated dance routine that embodied the song’s lyric: “Even if you hit a wall, make it ring loud.” The performance aimed to break down age barriers and bring the group’s music to a broader demographic.
Speaking about working with the senior dancers, Ian Hannz said with a smile that teaching them the choreography in the studio made him smile instinctively and reminded him of his own grandmother, whom he affectionately calls “Xiao Lian Jie.” Marcus was visibly excited, noting it was his first time performing the signature 360-degree spin move on a busy street. He said he hopes that in future performances the group can replicate the fiery hoop scene from the BANG music video for a complete show.

For Bosco, the Causeway Bay flash mob carried a sense of nostalgia. “It feels like revisiting an old haunt,” he admitted. The singer also revealed that he is running a “self-indulgent plan” by inviting fellow musicians to participate in dance challenge videos. So far, he has secured appearances from senior labelmates including COLLAR members Marf and Gao, as well as ERROR members FatBoy and Tsoul, alongside other skilled dancers.
Ian Hannz, who previously managed to introduce ZPOT to actor and Golden Horse Award winner Lau Ching Wan, said he is now aiming for an even bigger challenge: convincing the veteran star to film a dance challenge video together.
On the topic of the BANG music video, Ian Hannz noted that it features several cool motorcycle scenes. He confessed that he had once taken a motorcycle license test but failed, so all riding footage in the video was handled by professional stunt performers.
New Group Song and Diverse Output Ahead
The three members also teased the imminent release of a new group song. Following their earlier subunit track, Bosco and Marcus plan to co-write rap lyrics for this upcoming single. They further hinted that ZPOT will continue releasing music in various subunit configurations, but explained that the subunits will not carry distinct names for now, a decision that has left fans curious about the group’s evolving creative direction.
