The event, held at TVB City, marked the start of production for the latest installment of the long-running series, which blends crime reenactments with public safety messaging.
Chen Eyes a ‘Smarter’ Villain, Law Goes Undercover as British Officer
Lead actor Joe Chen, returning for a fourth season, expressed his desire to play an even more villainous role this time around—provided he can do so in comfort. “I’d love to take on a smarter, more ruthless bad guy,” Chen said. “But with this heat wave, I’m hoping for an air-conditioned set where I can sip coffee while being evil.” Chen is currently awaiting news on his next TV drama project, but confirmed he will head to Malaysia later this month to shoot a Lunar New Year film. He teased collaboration with a veteran actor, calling the experience a chance to learn. “Last year, Bob Lam did really well with his New Year film. I only agreed to do this one because he isn’t shooting this year—he’s too tough competition,” Chen joked.
Owen Law, who played a police trainee in the previous season, revealed he will sport a fake beard to portray a British officer in the new episodes. “It’s a fun challenge,” Law said. “I’ve never played a colonial-era character before.”
Fan Connection and Music Crossover Hints
Chen also acknowledged a longtime supporter: Candy Wong, a member of popular Cantopop girl group COLLAR. “I know she’s a ‘Good Friend’ (the fan nickname for his supporters),” Chen said. “I’ve been at TVB for so long, it’s natural that people grow up watching my shows. The audience is our boss—if we lose them, I’d have to change careers.” He noted that the nickname dates back to his days at ATV, but today’s fans often call themselves “Peng You Zai.” When asked about a potential music collaboration with Wong, Chen left the door open. “If she’s willing, I think we could create something fresh for everyone—bigger world, more joy,” he said. Chen also brushed off online comments comparing his looks to the brother of actress Grace Chan, saying he does not mind.
New Onscreen Pairing and Backstage Harmony
Young actress Nailam Ngai recalled working with veteran Yau Wai on a previous program, where he literally rescued her during a stunt. “He’s my first screen CP (couple),” Ngai said. “I’d love to do action scenes with him in the future.” Yau Wai praised Ngai’s talents, calling her “beautiful, a great dancer, and very agile.” He also dismissed rumors of a rift between co-stars Tracy Ip and Shuk Man Lam from the hit series Come Home Love. “I don’t see any tension—I rarely work with Tracy,” Yau said. When asked about claims that Lam behaves differently in public and private, he defended her: “She’s a wonderful person, very caring toward all of us.”
