MIRROR Members Turn Detectives in High-Stakes ‘MIRROR ACE’ Challenge

HONG KONG — Hong Kong boy band MIRROR traded their stage outfits for security uniforms in the latest episode of ViuTV’s variety show MIRROR ACE, airing Tuesday night, as the twelve members tested their observational skills in a playful battle of wits to catch a fictional “thief.”

The episode divided the group into three teams—FING, Eagle, and Strawberry—each tasked with a “spot the difference” game inside hotel rooms. Teams were given three minutes to memorize the original layout of a room before the opposing side secretly rearranged objects. The challenge required sharp memory and keen eyesight, but the members quickly turned the game into a mix of strategy, mischief, and laughter.

Creative Tactics and a Cheating Scandal

To throw off their opponents, most members opted for subtle changes, moving inconspicuous items such as tea bags, phones, and bottled water. But Eagle team’s Stanley Yau took a bolder approach. Spotting an action camera, he attempted to review footage for clues—only for teammate Jer Lau to warn him, “You can’t see anything.” Undeterred, Yau held the device to his ear, claiming he could hear a hint: “It’s flipped upside down.” The pair quickly pieced together the clue, though their method raised eyebrows among the other teams.

Meanwhile, Strawberry team’s Anson Lo displayed intense focus, muttering observations under his breath: “You were crossing that leg… both hands… now you’re crossing the other side… okay, the newspaper.” His concentration, however, was tested by teammate Keung To, who chose to goof off and pester Stanley Yau instead of playing seriously. A visibly amused Lo scolded him: “Look how serious I am! Do something useful!” Keung To merely smiled in response, leaving viewers both frustrated and entertained.

Strategic Mastermind

Earlier at the show’s press conference, member Ian Chan was voted by his peers as the “Strategic ACE.” True to form, Chan devised a plan for the Eagle team, targeting Strawberry’s weak link—Keung To, who was responsible for the living room and was clearly distracted. Chan suggested moving every changed item into that area, even proposing to Tiger Yau: “Let’s take off our shoes, and I’ll hide them in a cabinet. He definitely won’t notice.”

However, veteran member Edan Lui quickly saw through the scheme, demonstrating sharp instincts that kept the competition tight.

A Blend of Fun and Teamwork

The episode showcased not only the members’ competitive spirits but also their camaraderie and humor. From whispered cheating attempts to playful scolding, MIRROR ACE continues to offer fans a lighthearted look at the group’s dynamics beyond their music careers.

The show airs weekly on ViuTV, with this episode marking another step in the band’s expanding presence in the entertainment industry. As MIRROR continues to dominate Hong Kong’s pop culture scene, programs like MIRROR ACE reinforce their status as multifaceted entertainers, blending performance with comedy and strategy.

For fans, the episode offered a mix of suspense and laughter—and a reminder that even the sharpest observers can be outsmarted by a well-placed shoe.
