Taipei, Taiwan – Hong Kong actor Will Or (柯煒林) is set to take the stage as a host at the 61st Golden Horse Awards in November, marking his second turn in the role. In a recent interview, Or said he feels “not too nervous” about the high-profile gig, though he plans to prepare thoroughly.
Or revealed that the awards committee first reached out to him in November of last year. The offer resurfaced in 2024, and with his schedule aligning perfectly, he accepted without hesitation. Following the close of a stage play in October, Or will shift his focus entirely to preparations for the ceremony, potentially postponing planned time off.
During a promotional video for the event, Or sparked lighthearted chatter by claiming he is “slightly better looking” than Taiwanese heartthrob Hsu Kuang-han. Setting the record straight, Or explained that the remark was purely scripted and intended as a joke. “I just followed the lines,” he said with a laugh.
Tam Yiu-man Recalls Emotional Prison Scene in “The Box”
In separate comments, veteran actor Tam Yiu-man (譚耀文) opened up about a particularly memorable moment while filming the crime drama The Box (紙盒藏迷). He described an intense prison scene alongside mainland Chinese actor Zhang Songwen that required no retakes.
“The scene lasted about ten minutes, and we did it in one take,” Tam recalled. “We both knew the script inside out, so we just let go and improvised. We cried through an entire box of tissues—it was incredibly satisfying as an actor.”
Tam also praised his co-star Lam Suet, noting a touching embrace scene filmed in sweltering heat. “Lam was completely in character. He dropped his usual mannerisms and became like a completely different person—gentle as a girlfriend,” Tam said.
Tam Responds to Criticism Over Weight Gain, Still Hopes for Hong Kong Coliseum Show
The actor recently made headlines after a fan-filmed video from a mainland China nightclub performance surfaced online, drawing criticism over his noticeable midsection. Tam took the remarks in stride, even noting that the buzz has led to more booking requests.
“We just had our kids back from overseas, so I’ve been cooking at home a lot. That’s why I’ve put on some weight—it’s a ‘happy belly,'” Tam explained. “It’s just a little pudge. I’ll hit the gym and trim down.”
Despite the detour, Tam says he still dreams of performing at the Hong Kong Coliseum. He confirmed he is in talks with his management but noted no timeline has been set. “I’m building up my song catalog in the meantime,” he added.

When asked about the recent death of Mui Mei-kam, the mother of late Cantopop legend Anita Mui, Tam expressed sadness. “I hadn’t seen her much in recent years—only once, actually. She was a kind woman. I hope she and Anita can reunite up there,” he said quietly.
