HONG KONG – Several past Miss Hong Kong titleholders gathered Wednesday at the “Wai Yin Association Charity Mooncake Sale for Mid-Autumn Festival 2026,” where reigning champion Yuen Sze Hang faced playful comparisons to former contestant Wong Fei, who herself responded with humor and support.
The event, held Aug. 31, brought together actress Jennifer Shum, Sharon Siu, Wong Fei, Sze Yu Ki, and Yuen Man Ching to promote the charity mooncake drive ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The appearance featured the public debut of the association’s new leadership and provided updates on personal milestones.
Wong Fei Reacts to ‘Twin’ Comparisons
Yuen Sze Hang, crowned Miss Hong Kong 2026, has been described in local media as bearing a strong resemblance to 2013 contestant Wong Fei. When asked about the comparison, Wong laughed and told reporters: “Watching her dance on stage, I felt like I was up there performing myself. I’m thrilled she won — I supported her all the way because her eloquence and dancing were excellent.”
Pressed on how the two would fare if they competed together, Wong noted she has aged out of the competition’s eligibility. “But honestly, I’m happy. Maybe people with our facial features are simply blessed with lucky awards,” she said.
Wedding Plans and Financial Independence
Last year’s first runner-up, Sze Yu Ki, said she feels relieved after stepping down from her duties. She revealed she will marry her boyfriend of nine years in December on Hainan Island, China, choosing the destination to accommodate relatives from the mainland and fulfill her dream of a beachfront ceremony.
“We’ll combine our finances after marriage, but we’ll maintain our personal independence,” Sze added with a smile.
New Leadership Takes the Helm
Longtime members Jennifer Shum and Sharon Siu attended the event in their new roles as president and vice president of the Wai Yin Association, respectively. Shum, who has been with the charity for 14 years, expressed gratitude for the trust shown by fellow members.
“It is a great honor to be elected president,” she said.
The annual mooncake sale is one of the association’s flagship fundraising initiatives, channeling proceeds toward education, health, and community programs for women and children across Hong Kong.
