Hong Kong actress Fan Yik-Man recently shared heartfelt reflections on leaving the long-running TVB sitcom “Come Home Love: Lo And Behold,” revealing a deep emotional attachment to her iconic character and the show’s family-like atmosphere. In an interview on the Metro Radio program “Fong Faan ICU,” Fan discussed her post-series life, career aspirations, and personal health journey.
Fan admitted she still instinctively walks toward Studio 11, where the sitcom was filmed, only to be reminded by her assistant that she no longer works there. “I miss ‘Third Lady’ terribly,” she said, referring to her flamboyant character, Choi Sam-Tai, also nicknamed “White Swan.” The actress even performed the character’s signature line, “Wai Gor!” on demand, explaining that the delivery changes depending on the situation.
The role required Fan to wear a wig and numerous hair clips daily, maintaining an exaggerated appearance and high-energy demeanor. “Filming was very physically draining,” she said, noting that while her on-screen persona is loud and dramatic, her real personality is quieter and slower in speech. She joked that only children recognize her without makeup; adults need to hear her voice first before confirming her identity.
Fan spoke warmly about her bond with on-screen “son” actors Chan Chun-Ting and Ho Chit-Lok, saying they stay in touch daily via group chat. She humorously admitted to teasing Ho about women in his life, only to learn they were just colleagues. She also revealed that fellow cast member Chuang Sze-Ming earned the nickname “Dragon Beard Candy” after making the traditional treat for a finale scene. The group remains concerned about actor Hui Ka-Kit’s foot injury, underscoring the tight-knit relationships formed on set.
Addressing rumors that she is wealthy, Fan clarified that the perception stems from her character. “Tax filing is miserable!” she laughed, adding that she considers herself rich in spirit. She takes work as it comes and does not plan retirement. Currently filming a new drama, Fan is intentionally losing weight under a nutritionist’s guidance to manage fatty liver disease through scientific diet and exercise.
Fan expressed a desire to play professional roles like lawyers, doctors, or executives—parts that would showcase a “normal side” she has rarely portrayed. “I have high adaptability,” she said, welcoming new challenges from production teams.
On her love life, Fan remained open-minded, saying marriage is not a priority. Her main criterion is good communication, though she joked that her easygoing nature might make potential partners feel insecure. “They’d be the ones in danger,” she quipped.
