The 2026 Miss Hong Kong Pageant has scheduled its grand finale for the evening of Sunday, August 30, organizers announced Wednesday, while a three-part pre-pageant travel series titled Hong Kong Ladies: Hunan Encounter premieres tonight at 10:05 p.m. on TVB Jade.
The first episode, airing tonight, follows 12 contestants as they arrive in Hengyang, Hunan Province, for a cultural and team-building experience. The candidates—numbered and named as Bernice Yuen (No. 1), Scarlett Lee (No. 2), Chorie Li (No. 3), Tiffany Tam (No. 4), Etherine Ngai (No. 5), Jasmine Lo (No. 6), Vera Yeung (No. 7), Ada Tang (No. 8), Gracia Chow (No. 9), Cecilia Chan (No. 10), Agnes Ngan (No. 11), and Caris Tong (No. 12)—are accompanied by three former winners: FYY (Fiona Yeung, 2018 winner), Carmaney Wong (2019 winner), and Yvette Chan.
Team-Based Challenges Target Body Image, Public Speaking, and Appearance Anxieties
Under the guidance of their mentors, the contestants are divided into three teams, each focusing on a specific type of anxiety that is common among pageant hopefuls.
- Team A, led by Yvette Chan, addresses “body posture anxiety.” Members include Bernice Yuen, Scarlett Lee, Vera Yeung, and Caris Tong.
- Team B, captained by FYY, targets “public speaking anxiety.” Its roster features Chorie Li, Etherine Ngai, Gracia Chow, and Cecilia Chan.
- Team C, headed by Carmaney Wong, tackles “appearance anxiety.” Participants are Tiffany Tam, Jasmine Lo, Ada Tang, and Agnes Ngan.
In the first challenge, called the “Travel Photo Test,” each team dons traditional hanfu costumes at an ancient-town-style scenic area. They must strike poses based on randomly assigned themes: “Dynamic Beauty,” “Seductive Beauty,” and “Ethereal Beauty.” Yvette Chan stood out for her preparation, having conducted a skin-tone analysis for her team to help each contestant choose flattering colors. Meanwhile, FYY turned into a “nervous coach,” offering both verbal and physical guidance as her Team B wrestled with the most difficult theme, “Seductive Beauty.”
Standout Performances and a Quirky AI Segment
Early standout performers included Scarlett Lee, Etherine Ngai, and Tiffany Tam. Lee proposed a butterfly-inspired concept for her team; Ngai emerged as the leader for the seductive theme; and Tam volunteered to cross-dress as a male swordsman for her team’s “xianxia” (martial arts fantasy) twist, demonstrating both creativity and selflessness.
The episode also features 12 AI-generated clips designed to showcase each contestant’s personality. In the segments, the candidates appear as giant, life-size figures superimposed onto 12 different scenic backdrops, delivering self-introductions. The most memorable came from Bernice Yuen, who unexpectedly puckered her lips and crossed her eyes to mimic a pufferfish, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
