HONG KONG – Hong Kong singer Mike Tsang (曾比特) has released his latest Cantonese single, “The Number You Have Dialed Is Temporarily Unavailable,” featuring labelmate Vivian Lau (劉紜蔚) as the music video’s leading lady. The production, however, took an unexpected turn when a romantic elevator scene was interrupted by curious passersby, turning a tender moment into an amusing mishap.
Tsang described the elevator sequence as the most memorable part of the shoot. The script called for Lau to pull him close, creating an intimate, almost-kissing atmosphere. But during one take, the elevator doors slid open to reveal two unsuspecting strangers. “The moment we got close, the doors opened, and there they were,” Tsang recalled. “It was instantly awkward and hilarious.”
Rather than stepping out, the two bystanders entered the elevator, seemingly unfazed by the film crew inside. One of them repeatedly complimented Tsang on his looks, peppering him with questions about his nationality and background. “He kept saying I couldn’t be from Hong Kong—that I must be from another country,” Tsang said, shaking his head with a grin. “I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.”

When asked if new humorous material was in the works, he confessed, “Not yet. But my colleagues and friends have been giving me plenty of suggestions.”
Tsang hinted that he may pivot away from the lighthearted style, adding, “Maybe I’m not suited for that route anymore. I’d like to return to a more mature, leading-man image.”
“The Number You Have Dialed Is Temporarily Unavailable” marks Tsang’s third radio single this year. In addition to his own releases, he composed the music for fellow artist Tsang O-fei’s track “Physical Gap Association.” The singer-songwriter emphasized his ongoing commitment to creating original work. “I’ve been writing steadily, but my health hasn’t been great over the past month or two, so the output has slowed,” he explained. “I want to get my body back in shape and pick up the pace.”
Tsang revealed that he has already completed a song for which he co-wrote both lyrics and melody, and it is scheduled for recording soon. “My goal is to release a track that is entirely my own—every word and note,” he said.
