Six former contestants from the popular TVB singing competition Midlife Singing Contest 4 traded their anonymous masks for media spotlight Monday as they announced a special charity concert in Hong Kong. The “Love Burst Animal Music Show” will take place on September 30 at Macpherson Stadium, with the proceeds supporting animal welfare initiatives.
Actor-singer Chow Chi Hong, known for his emotional journey on the show, revealed he hopes to invite his Midlife Singing Contest 4 duet partners Lau Wai Wong and Kwan Chiu Yiu as guest performers. He also expressed willingness to perform alongside fellow contestant Law Tin Yee. Chow’s elimination episode, broadcast earlier this week, showed him crying so hard his voice cracked, but he insisted the tears were not born from disappointment.
“My original goal was just to reach the top 10. I’ve already achieved that, and I’m truly grateful,” Chow said. “The tears came from not wanting to leave that stage, and from being moved by my own journey of chasing dreams, my family’s support, and the incredible stories of everyone competing alongside me.”
Chow also shared exciting personal news: his production company is preparing a new single for him, marking his first release since the 2016 theme song Teenage Era for the drama Her Story of Her Her. “I haven’t recorded yet, so I’m not sure if it’ll be ready in time for the September concert,” he admitted.
Rising singer Lau Pui Yuet, who participated as a “Cat Lady” character on the show, donned her original competition outfit for the press conference to create a bookend effect. “I wanted to show everyone how I’ve grown through this journey,” she said. Lau described the experience as eye-opening. “We’ve been through life and death together—the mutual encouragement and love from this group will stay with me forever.”
When asked if she would invite rumored boyfriend Chow Chi Man as a guest, Lau laughed and said that while Chow Chi Hong (a different person) is already confirmed, she wouldn’t rule out the invitation. “We’ve never performed on stage together. But even if he doesn’t come as a guest, he’ll definitely be in the audience supporting us,” she said.
The “Love Burst Animal Music Show” aims to combine entertainment with a charitable cause, uniting stars who first bonded over music and now share a mission to help animals. Organizers hope the event will not only raise funds but also increase public awareness about animal adoption and responsible pet ownership.
Tickets for the September 30 show are expected to go on sale later this month, with organizers promising a night of heartfelt music and surprise collaborations from the show’s fan-favorite contestants.
