MIRROR’s Tiger Yau Launches Solo Concert Seven Years Into Career

HONG KONG – Tiger Yau, a prominent member of the Cantopop sensation MIRROR, is set to debut his first solo concert, “Tiger Yau ‘Where It Begins’ Live 2026,” on March 20. After nearly eight years in the industry, the artist confirmed that the timing felt right, emphasizing a sense of gratitude and fortunate circumstance for securing the iconic MacPherson Stadium as the venue for his inaugural intimate performance.

The concert is designed to be a deeply personal musical journey, with Yau expressing anticipation tempered by the inherent pressure of carrying an entire show. Titled “Where It Begins,” the project aims to showcase Yau’s diverse tastes and influences, sharing the music that has shaped him with his dedicated fanbase. He stressed that the primary goal is ensuring the audience has a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience.

Preparation and Personal Challenges

Taking center stage alone presents significant physical and technical demands, requiring Yau to significantly increase his training regimen. He detailed a strict daily routine focused on endurance and vocal readiness, encompassing running for stamina, practicing guitar, and intensive vocal coaching.

The star admitted the concert requires him to step up both his physical conditioning and performance skills. While acknowledging the high bar set by bulked-up teammates like Stanley Yau, Tiger joked that fans hoping for a shirtless display of muscle should lower their expectations. If he were to “flash” something personal, he quipped, it would be his cherished collection of guitars.

Yau revealed a surprisingly unconventional preparation method: singing while slightly inebriated. He shared he sometimes enjoys a feeling of self-confidence when practicing after consuming a small amount of alcohol, although he remains unsure of the objective quality of those performances. He mused that perhaps a mid-show drink could be considered for the performance itself.

Crafting the Setlist and Legacy

The setlist is expected to feature roughly 20 songs, demanding peak performance levels. While the final lineup remains under wraps, Yau confirmed several of his key solo works will be mainstays, including “Alright,” “Eagle Eating Carrion” (literal translation of 《吃腐肉的鷹》), “Live The Way I Want,” and “Ask Once More.”

Reflecting the concert’s theme, Yau and his band are carefully selecting tracks that hold deep personal meaning and impact. Beyond his own hits, he plans to incorporate some MIRROR group songs and vintage Cantopop classics, seeking to ignite a collective memory and provide a nostalgic element for long-time music lovers, particularly those within his parents’ generation.

Yau credits his father for instilling his musical appreciation, recounting hours spent discussing timeless hits and even charting popular karaoke favorites. This intergenerational influence is expected to resonate through the concert’s curated selection of tracks.

Collaborations and Future Ambitions

While still finalizing the concert flow, Yau noted that he is currently deliberating over potential guest performers. He confirmed one very important audience member: fellow MIRROR member Anson Kong (AK), who has already pledged his definite attendance and support.

Having prior experience directing music videos, Yau will leverage his creative insight by guiding the production team on complementary short films and visual elements for the show, ensuring they align seamlessly with the “Where It Begins” concept.

Looking beyond the concert, Yau expressed a strong desire to diversify his professional activities in the coming year. He hopes to continuously release new original music while exploring different aspects of acting, specifically mentioning a keen interest in television dramas, feature films, and theatrical stage productions. For now, however, all focus remains on the pivotal solo launch that marks a powerful new chapter in his musical career.
