HONG KONG – Four contestants on the Hong Kong metaphysical competition show “Z-Mystery” failed to correctly identify a life-altering accident suffered by a guest during the second episode, though one came remarkably close by drawing tarot cards linked to electricity and fire.
The episode, which aired Tuesday night, featured Lee Kam-kai, a contestant from the singing competition “Midlife Singing 3,” as the guest. The challenge required the four “Black Prophets”—Hannah, Baebae, Trevor, and BlackCat—to uncover a pivotal accident in Lee’s life without knowing his identity. They had to determine the nature of the incident, the year it occurred, and its impact on his life.
The correct answer: At age 11, Lee was electrocuted by a 5,000-volt high-tension wire while hiking in the mountains, resulting in the loss of both arms.
None of the four contestants arrived at the exact answer. However, Baebae drew the “Sun” and “Tower” cards—traditionally associated with electricity and fire—and correctly sensed the element of electrical danger. Yet she misinterpreted the reading as a burn accident. Because her answer was the closest to the truth, Baebae won the round with a score of 126 out of 150.
The episode also featured a post-credits segment in which the four practitioners analyzed Lee’s romantic life from age 19 onward. Lee, now in his 30s, revealed he had dated four to six partners between the ages of 19 and 35.
Two contestants—Baebae and Hannah—accurately noted that Lee attracts many admirers but is highly selective. “Many girls like you,” Baebae told him. “But you are very cautious in choosing a partner.” Hannah added, “You don’t lack romantic opportunities. You just want a long-term partner, and you know exactly what your standards are.”
Lee, who lost both arms in the childhood accident, has since become a motivational speaker and public figure. His appearance on the show highlighted not only the challenges of blind fortune-telling but also the resilience of individuals who overcome severe adversity.
The segment drew attention on social media, with viewers praising Baebae’s partial accuracy and the emotional depth of Lee’s story. “Z-Mystery” continues to blend entertainment with esoteric practice, testing whether intuition and symbolism can rival verifiable facts.
