ViuTV Stars Celebrate Success, Share Insights Following Talent Show Final

Three finalists from ViuTV’s popular talent competition, King Maker VI, drew large crowds at a shopping center event today, celebrating their recent success and the runner-up’s 22nd birthday. Ian Hannz (Chen Jinxi), the competition’s second-place winner and younger brother of local artist Ansonbean, appeared alongside fellow top 11 contestants Bosco Kwan and Dave Wong. The event included a retrospective recognition for Hannz, who celebrated his birthday two days prior, complete with a celebratory cake, audience singalong, and lighthearted “birthday kisses” from his co-stars.

Hannz, whose victory secured him the runner-up title, described the accomplishment as the “best birthday gift” he could have received. He shared that he spent his actual birthday relaxing at home and celebrating quietly with family. His birthday wish centered on the simple desire for the continued health and happiness of himself and those around him.

The emerging artist acknowledged the public backing and birthday wishes from beauty and wellness entrepreneur, Tang Angil. Hannz revealed a history of association with Tang, noting he had previously won an award in an acting and modeling competition organized by her company and worked as a dance instructor at her school before prioritizing other commitments. He expressed deep gratitude for her mentorship, stating, “She is someone I greatly respect.” Reflecting on his career trajectory, Hannz contrasted his current experience with an earlier trial in a contest—which he entered simply to “try”—and the more intense experience of King Maker VI.

While some family members had high hopes for him to secure the championship, Hannz noted they took the loss harder than he did, requiring him to offer reassurance. He currently plans to take a break from teaching dance to explore other professional avenues.

The three artists confirmed they had already secured promotional work, which was booked before the final competition, and expressed thanks for the early support from clients. Looking ahead to potential partnerships, Ian Hannz expressed an interest in collaborating with a coffee brand. Bosco Kwan focused on the culinary sector, hoping for food-related endorsements—candidly admitting he wishes to gain weight and “bulk up”—though he also desires apparel brand endorsements. Dave Wong quickly agreed, suggesting they should pursue fitness training together. Wong, who was widely considered a favorite before the final but did not make the top three, thanked his fans for their loyalty and pledged to thoughtfully consider all online feedback.

The trio is scheduled to attend a “thank you” event with the rest of the top 11 contestants later this week to acknowledge their fans’ unwavering support throughout the competition.

During the event, the contestants also addressed a viral social media moment from the final night. Earlier eliminated contestant Lucas Ko was photographed sleeping in the audience, an image that went mainstream after being re-shared by canto-pop star Keung To. The three finalists playfully dismissed the notion that his slumber was due to a lack of excitement on stage. They suggested Ko was perhaps “too immersed” in the moment, adding that sleeping during various stages of the competition was a frequent habit for him. They confirmed there were no hard feelings, noting that Keung To’s repost had inadvertently made Ko an overnight internet sensation.
