Hong Kong singer Feanna Wong (黃淑蔓) is set to celebrate her decade-long career with the release of her first full-length album, Growth (成長), accompanied by a highly anticipated solo concert, marking a significant personal and artistic evolution for the 24-year-old artist. The debut album, which encompasses a deep dive into her changing perspectives between the ages of 18 and 24, will be unveiled during a showcase at the Plover Cove Golf Club. This milestone event signifies Wong’s transition into a new chapter, emphasizing authenticity and artistic intensity following years of navigating the demanding entertainment industry.
Growth: Tracking Six Years of Artistic Change
The album Growth features ten tracks recorded over six years, offering fans an unprecedented audial journey through the singer’s evolution. Wong indicated that the carefully curated tracklist will expose listeners to various phases of her vocal style and emotional landscape. Despite being her tenth year in the industry, this marks Wong’s first official large-scale solo concert, a realization of many years of creative planning.
“This is my first individual concert in ten years, and I have so many ideas,” Wong stated, acknowledging the highly dense program that will feature both new album material and covers of beloved songs from other artists. She confessed a fear that the “packed song list” might almost overwhelm the audience.
Wong has also publicly addressed her recent shift toward a healthier lifestyle. Appearing noticeably slimmer, she clarified that the change was not merely for performance aesthetics but a proactive health measure. Battling a naturally low immune system and frequent illness since childhood, she began consulting a nutritionist two years ago. This commitment to well-being resulted in successfully losing 10 kilograms over the past year.
Sustaining the Drive: Embracing Authenticity
Reflecting on her professional journey, Wong recalled the intense pressure she often placed on herself, noting the extreme dedication required to succeed. “I remember studying backstage the day before taking my DSE exams,” she reminisced.
Now, Wong believes this year requires an even greater push. Following a prolific 2023 where she released four songs—a personal high—she aims to ramp up output further. Declaring herself eager for intense creative work, she joked about her “insane” drive, suggesting she could handle releasing over ten songs a year if given the opportunity.
Beyond musical output, Wong spoke candidly about internal shifts. She contrasted her current self with her younger image, noting that as a teenager, she often tried to “act older.” However, graduating from university and encountering the harsh realities of adult life made her realize the exhaustion inherent in constantly projecting a mature persona. She has since deliberately chosen to regress to a more authentic, unguarded self.
“This is the real me now; I just lacked the courage before to let people see it, fearing disapproval,” she explained. Wong now advocates for expressing negative emotions constructively, believing that moderate vulnerability deepens interpersonal connections.
Dating and Relationships: Finding Life Outside the Spotlight
Despite investing heavily in her career from a young age, Wong maintains she has no regrets and that her work did not completely overshadow her emotional life. Admitting she has a “romantic brain,” she confirmed that she is no longer without relationship experience, revealing she dated during her university years but broke up last year.
Wong expressed a strong desire for love and admitted that she had been pursued by at least one industry insider, though the relationship didn’t materialize. While emphasizing that fate plays the primary role in finding a partner, she conceded that physical appearance remains a necessary consideration. While her past preference leaned toward Western-style men, she is currently drawn to Japanese aesthetics, citing a fondness for long-haired, Japanese-style individuals similar to actor Ekin Cheng and the Japanese singer Yuuri, admiring the latter’s vocal talent. The singer looks forward to embracing this new, authentic stage both personally and professionally.
