Popular boy band MIRROR member Ian Chan (陳卓賢) confirmed his bandmate Stanley Chiu (邱士縉) has privately announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend, dancer Alina Lee (李炘頤). Speaking at a public event on Tuesday, Chan shared that the news of the upcoming nuptials was met with overwhelming support from the rest of the group, and he offered immediate public well-wishes for the happy couple.
The announcement came shortly after Chiu and Lee publicly confirmed their engagement, ending months of speculation among fans and fellow artists. Chan revealed the groom-to-be playfully teased the group before sharing the official news on their internal messaging platform.
“I found out this afternoon,” Chan told reporters. “He messaged the group saying, ‘I think I’ll announce it tomorrow,’ but it turned out to be today. Everyone is genuinely thrilled for him. We’ve constantly asked him about getting married!”
The Music of Matrimony
While congratulating Chiu, Chan, known for his songwriting skills, mentioned his unique upcoming gift for the pair: a song penned specifically about weddings, though currently unreleased.
“I’ve already sent my blessings,” Chan said. “If I am fortunate enough to be invited to the wedding, the gift will follow.”
When asked if the new track would be ready in time for Chiu’s wedding, Chan expressed uncertainty about the release schedule but noted his desire for the song to be included in the celebrations. “I sincerely invite him to play it at the wedding,” he stated. However, he quickly dismissed the possibility of inviting the engaged couple to star in the accompanying music video, citing budgetary constraints for the production.
Band Unity and New Projects
The conversation quickly shifted to the activities of the chart-topping group and the dynamics within MIRROR. Chan reaffirmed the band’s commitment to following the vision set by their leader, Lokman Yeung (楊樂文).
“Whatever the captain suggests, that’s what we do,” Chan emphasized, referencing Yeung’s recent comments about potentially holding a large-scale outdoor New Year’s Eve concert. “We will follow his lead.”
Addressing internal reports, Chan was asked about recent rumors suggesting a minor traffic incident involving fellow member Keung To (姜濤), who recently obtained his driver’s license. Chan stated he was unaware of the reports or the supposed accident. “As long as the person is safe, that’s what matters,” he commented professionally.
Finally, in response to questions about his rumored role in mending working relations between MIRROR’s management company, MakerVille, and the commercial radio station Commercial Radio Hong Kong, Chan downplayed any special status.
“Every time I release new music, we arrange professional promotion,” he explained. “I’m just focused on fulfilling my responsibilities as an artist.”
The confirmed engagement marks a significant personal milestone for Stanley Chiu and brings excitement to MIRROR’s dedicated fan base as they anticipate both the upcoming marriage and Ian Chan’s new musical release. The focus now turns to the band’s scheduled activities and potential announcements regarding Lokman Yeung’s eagerly awaited outdoor performance concept.
