MIRROR Reunites for ’12’ Album Signing, Shares 8th Anniversary Joys and Personal Updates

The nine members of Hong Kong boy band MIRROR gathered in full Wednesday for a signing event for their new album, “12,” meeting nearly a thousand dedicated “Mirror Fans.” The appearance served as a celebration of the group’s imminent eighth anniversary, with members exchanging anecdotes, playing games, and revealing personal milestones, from marriage to dog adoption.

Anniversary Cheer and Playful Antics

The atmosphere was festive as members took turns expressing gratitude for their shared journey since their 2016 debut. The album title, “12,” reflects their evolution and cohesion. During a game segment, losing member Jer (Chui Ying-tak) was tasked with giving Keung To a “princess carry.” Jer’s exaggerated strain as he lifted the singer drew laughter from the crowd, while Keung To appeared to enjoy the moment. Later, Jer told reporters, “I can do it! I usually lift heavy things, so it’s okay,” before quickly adding, “That’s not to say he’s heavy—I just work out.” The quip kept his bandmates laughing.

Marriage, Wedding Regrets, and Emotional Support

Stanley (Ma Chun-hin) made his first public appearance with the group since his recent marriage, noting that his wife is supportive of his work commitments. Fellow member Ian (Chan Chin-hin) expressed regret for missing the wedding, saying he had to perform in Macau. “I felt it was a pity because I really wanted to be there to witness it,” he said, adding that he conveyed his congratulations early. Tiger (Ngau Ngok-in) admitted to crying at the event, though he was not alarmed by Jeremy’s (Lee Chun-kit) emotional breakdown, which he said was planned in the event schedule.

Anson Lo (Lok Ho-yin) said he has grown more composed over the years. “I was emotional hearing Stanley’s vows, but I didn’t cry,” he said. “When I saw Jeremy tearing up, I ran over with a stack of tissues—there were many people with cameras, and I wanted him to cry in the most photogenic way possible.” He also acted as an unofficial designated drinker for the wedding. “No one asked me to, but I was a guest and considered myself available to help.”

From “Black Photos” to New Pet Parenthood

Edan (Lok Cheuk-on), known for snapping unflattering “black photos” of his bandmates, said he refrained from any mischief as a groomsman and only captured a shot of Jer sleeping. Jer confirmed that he was tired from helping with post-wedding drinking, though he denied being drunk. When asked if he would introduce men to his younger sister, Edan simply replied, “She can handle it herself.”

Keung To, who recently became a dog owner, said he has yet to decide when to debut his pet on social media, but he takes it for daily walks. “Having a dog has brought more routine to my life,” he said. “For Halloween last night, the crowds were all in Central, so I could walk my dog by the sea without any trouble.”

Looking Ahead

With strong album sales and a loyal fan base, MIRROR continues to dominate the Hong Kong pop scene. The members balance group activities with personal schedules, including Ian’s upcoming concerts in Macau and other individual projects. As the group approaches its eighth year, the event highlighted not only their professional achievements but also their personal growth and enduring camaraderie.
