“Unspoken Secrets” is Yip’s fourth individual single, following earlier releases “Island and Youth,” “Joy Boy,” and “Handbook for Quitting Halfway.” The music video, which premiered Tuesday evening on YouTube, centers on the emotional theme of “people remain, places change.” It opens with a press conference scene and weaves together close-up shots of Yip’s expressions with footage of him alone in various settings.

“Returning to a familiar place but losing the old feeling—that’s what ‘people remain, places change’ means to me,” Yip said in a statement. “We shot at many spots, including the grass, the pier, and the radio station, but KITEC struck the deepest chord. It used to hold so many wonderful memories with everyone. Now the building is gone, and the lively scenes only live in my mind. It’s bittersweet, but it also makes me realize how precious those past connections were.”

Yip described his debut as co-composer as remarkably smooth. “S.Kin and I found a melody we loved very quickly, and it opened up infinite space for imagination. The tune gave me a very distinct feeling—a subtle ache of farewell—and that’s how the song was born,” he explained.
The music video and lyrics were both handled by Oscar, a longtime collaborator who knows Yip’s artistic sensibilities well. “Oscar distilled my feelings about the past into the lyrics,” Yip said. “Working with him again was special.”
For the recording, Yip teamed for the first time with producer Sodao Che, whose work he has long admired. “We sparked beautifully in the studio,” Yip noted. “I discovered new ways to interpret the song.
