HONG KONG – Mirror副队长江𤒹生 (AK) has released his latest single, “Heartbreak Miles,” marking his first collaboration with renowned lyricist Wyman Wong. The track uses airline mileage as a poignant metaphor for a love that can never be redeemed.
The song, which dropped this week, draws a clever parallel between accumulated flight points and the emotional investment in a one-sided relationship. AK, whose full name is Kong Ting-sang, said he was pleasantly surprised when he first read the lyrics. The 28-year-old singer and dancer described the partnership with Wong as a career highlight.
“Inviting Wyman to write the lyrics made me very happy,” AK told reporters. “He has a unique perspective on every song. This time, using mileage to describe a love story that can never be realized—I never would have thought of that. It’s a brilliant analogy.”
AK admitted he spent considerable time absorbing the lyrics, aiming to channel the exact emotional weight of a relationship that ends without closure. The song’s narrative follows a man who pursues a woman with all his heart, only to be thwarted by bad timing and misunderstandings.
The music video adopts an unusual dual-story format. AK cast his label junior, Day (Hui Yik of girl group COLLAR), as the female lead. She will later return the favor by starring in AK’s upcoming video for Day’s new single.
“Both stories are linked within the same MV. It’s an innovative attempt,” AK explained. “We had only done a magazine shoot together before, so this was our first real collaboration on a film set. It felt fresh and special.”
Adding an unexpected twist, the production crew brought in a live gecko named “Bo Chai” as a special guest. Despite admitting a slight fear of reptiles, AK pushed through his discomfort for the shoot. A humorous mishap occurred when the gecko moved unexpectedly while AK was holding it.
“I’m a bit scared of reptiles,” AK confessed. “But the director wanted more interaction because the story says I own the gecko. When I lifted its enclosure, it suddenly moved… I accidentally screamed. I scared it. I want to say sorry to Brother Bo.”
The lighthearted moment contrasted with the song’s somber theme, offering fans a glimpse of the singer’s down-to-earth personality.
“Heartbreak Miles” is now available on major streaming platforms. The music video, featuring the dual-narrative structure and the gecko cameo, has already generated buzz among fans eager to see how the intertwined stories unfold.
