The show, hosted by Bob Lam, Amy Kong, Sau Yee Lam, and returning “goddesses” Maggie Leung and Carman Kwan, aims to match brave singles with their celebrity crushes—but not without exposing a few hard truths along the way.
The premiere’s most talked-about moment came when contestant Jason Mak, who claimed to be 30 years old and earning a monthly salary of HKD 50,000 or more, was caught in a blatant age lie. Show producer Mock Mok noticed discrepancies and asked Jason about his A-Level exam results—a trick question for anyone under 32 or 33 in Hong Kong, as the city’s A-Level system ended for school candidates in 2012 and for private candidates in 2013. When Jason unwittingly answered, Mok immediately called him out. Panelist Carman Kwan followed up bluntly: “Are you lying about your age?” Flustered, Jason admitted he was actually around 50, born in 1976.
“Why would you tell people you’re 30? Anyone can see you’re not,” fumed Amy Kong. She later pressed further after Jason defended himself, saying he had been told during an audition for the singing competition “Midlife Good Voice” that he “didn’t look 50.” Kong shot back: “Someone saying you don’t look 50 doesn’t mean you look under 50.
