Vincy, Award Front-Runner, Drops Soothing Single to Help Listeners Unwind

Vincy, widely favored to take the female singer gold award at the CRHK music awards, has released her new single “Pang Bian” (Beside). The track, composed by Lam Ka Kei with lyrics by lyricist Oscar, is crafted to offer a light, calming experience for listeners grappling with stress and sleeplessness.

A Simple Creative Spark

The project began with an unusual creative brief: a photograph of a cloud with a ladder, which Vincy sent to Lam. “I gave him that picture and said I wanted a very light song,” Vincy recalled. After two decades in the music industry, she noted that while experience has sharpened her skills, it has also brought added weight and self-doubt. “This song helps me get back to that pure, light feeling,” she explained.

Designed for Relaxation

The lyrics capture a collective exhaustion from constantly chasing deadlines, benchmarks or validation. Vincy hopes the song will especially reach those who struggle with sleep due to heavy burdens. “Many people today are under immense pressure, and I’ve experienced insomnia myself,” she said. “I want them to hear this and lay down their worries for the night.”

A Message of Self-Acceptance

The track also encourages listeners to release the need to prove themselves. Vincy admitted that early in her career she was consumed by others’ opinions, fearing any mistake might lead to disapproval. “But now I see those concerns are often self-made,” she reflected. “People might not be paying as much attention as I assumed.”

That shift extends to her social life. Naturally introverted, Vincy used to force herself to act outgoing. “I don’t push conversations anymore,” she said. “If there’s nothing to say, I stay quiet, and that’s fine.” She values authenticity over forced pleasantries.

In a playful aside, Vincy named her smartphone as her ideal companion for an escape. “It can connect me with everyone or help me tune out completely,” she said with a laugh.

Stepping into the Spotlight

With “Pang Bian,” Vincy not only builds momentum ahead of award season but also delivers a timely reminder: in a culture that prizes constant achievement, sometimes the most restorative act is to pause. The single marks a growing maturity in her approach to both music and well-being, inviting listeners to seek stillness amid the noise.
