Hong Kong girl group IdG Bubbles marked its first anniversary with a retro-style banquet for more than 100 fans, capping a breakout year that saw the five-member act sweep major media newcomer awards and release eight original Cantonese songs. The celebration took place in September, and the group used the occasion to unveil plans for an upcoming live show in Macau with online singer RU.
A Year of Breakthroughs
Since debuting in 2024, IdG Bubbles quickly became one of Hong Kong’s most promising new acts. The group’s rookie-year accolades included top newcomer honors from major media outlets, a rare feat for a fresh act. All eight of its tracks were fully local productions, a point of pride for the members, who said the support motivated them through a demanding schedule of performances and fan events.
An Evening Without Cameras
For the anniversary dinner, held at a traditional Cantonese restaurant chosen for its old-Hong Kong atmosphere, the group traded the usual meet-and-greet format for something more intimate. Member Siu Cheuk, who conceived the idea, said the goal was to give fans a break from their usual roles as documentarians.
“Over the past year, fans have been carrying heavy professional cameras to support us at every show,” she said. “This time, we wanted them to put the cameras down, enjoy a good meal with us, and just chat and play games. No more rushing to take photos — no more flashing.”
The event was emceed by IdG’s producer, Apa, who led games and gave out limited-edition gifts. When it came time to cut the cake, each member shared a wish for the year ahead.

On October 25, IdG Bubbles will join forces with internet singer RU for RU x IdG Bubbles 1st Stage Live in Macau at the Lisboeta Macau hotel. The concert promises an energetic showcase of youthful pop and dance, and marks the group’s first performance outside Hong Kong.
For a band that has spent its first year building momentum at home, the Macau show is a logical next step. As the members look ahead, they remain focused on expanding their reach while staying connected to the fans who carried them through a whirlwind debut. With a string of wishes now public, IdG Bubbles has turned its anniversary into a launchpad — one that could carry them well beyond Hong Kong’s borders.
