HONG KONG – Singer-songwriter Kimman Wong has returned from a milestone four-day, three-night entertainment run aboard a cruise ship, a voyage that blended professional achievement with personal moments alongside his loved ones and most devoted supporters. The journey, which included port calls in Kaohsiung and the Penghu Islands, marked Wong’s first time performing at sea.
Wong described the experience as more than just another concert engagement. “The highlight wasn’t simply stepping onto the cruise stage for the first time,” he shared. “It was being able to bring my family along and share this incredible journey with a large group of my ‘Kimchi Family’ fan club members.”
The trip kicked off with a special late-night gesture for fans. On the vessel’s first evening, Wong held an impromptu ‘Busking Night’ on the deck as a personal thank you for their unwavering support. The rest of the voyage was a mix of local culture and scenic exploration. In Kaohsiung, he and his family visited the Rainbow Chapel at Cihou Beach Park despite a bout of rain, even braving a steaming pot of málà hotpot. The following day, in Penghu, the group trekked through the scenic “Hou Liao Paradise Road,” a winding old causeway that snakes into the ocean. The intense tropical sun proved memorable; Wong joked that had he brought a change of clothes, he would have “jumped straight into the sea” for a swim. Ultimately, succumbing to the sweltering heat, he shed his outer shirt, leaving fans with a candid, back-to-basics photo that showcased his down-to-earth charm.
The main concert aboard the ship was a complete sell-out, with fans setting up dedicated support areas to cheer him on. The evening’s energy peaked when Wong performed a duet of Who Understands the Heart of a Wanderer with fellow Hong Kong singer Chiu Hok-Yee. The audience showered the performers with flowers and even presented lai see—red envelopes typically given during Lunar New Year—which came as a delightful surprise to Wong. In a gesture of reciprocity, he handed out specially prepared posters to the crowd, thanking them for years of loyalty.
Reflecting on the voyage, Wong noted that the experience was more than just a musical performance; it was a meaningful memory created with the people who matter most.
