Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok renewed his robust commitment to performance and philanthropy today, formally accepting the role of Year of the Horse Ambassador for the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) at an event held at Happy Valley Racecourse. The unveiling coincided with the announcement of a busy professional schedule for the prolific actor and singer, including the debut screen appearance of his racehorse, “Dancing Code,” in a new HKJC promotional campaign, alongside the release of a bespoke theme song, ”Continue to Charge,” penned by his manager, Siu Mei.
The appointment underscores Kwok’s long-standing connection to racing as an owner and enthusiast. Following the ceremony, where he exchanged a commemorative calligraphic piece with the HKJC, the star detailed his itinerary for the coming months, confirming a packed schedule that includes global concerts and film production well into the Lunar New Year.
Career Momentum and Creative Pursuits
Kwok, often celebrated for his energetic approach to work, shared that the theme song recording was just wrapped, with music video production slated to begin shortly. His immediate focus shifts to a major concert in Beijing on January 24th, followed by a demanding film shoot expected to span the Chinese New Year period. He quickly dismissed rumors, however, confirming he would not be filming a sequel to the hit cinematic production, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In.
Despite his hectic schedule, Kwok emphasized his dedication to his ambassadorial duties, particularly attending the traditional Lunar New Year Raceday on the third day of the holiday to promote local tourism. Throughout the year, he plans to participate in various goodwill activities organized by the HKJC.
When questioned about the financial compensation for such a high-profile role, Kwok stated that remuneration was secondary. “I leave the fees to my company,” he said. “My main focus is enjoying the process. I believe I share similar qualities with a spirited thoroughbred—resilience and vitality. As a horse owner myself, I am delighted by this collaboration.”
Inspiring Fan Engagements on Tour
The superstar also shared insights into his current global concert tour, highlighting how he has amplified audience interaction. He noted that the recent show in Xi’an featured energetic dance-offs and communal singing, which proved deeply moving.
“I had never involved the audience in a massive singalong before; experiencing it was profoundly moving and unforgettable,” Kwok explained. He credited fellow artist Jay Chou for inspiring the dance-off segment, stating that a previous positive collaborative performance led him to incorporate competitive dancing with fans as a recurring feature, significantly enhancing the concert atmosphere.
The tour also showcases Kwok’s artistic dexterity, as he integrates live ink-splatter painting into his performances, concealing geographic location names within the abstracts. He intends to compile these artworks into an exhibition once the entire tour concludes.
Family Milestones Amid Full Schedule
On the domestic front, Kwok revealed a joyful family update regarding his youngest daughter, Cheryl, who is quickly approaching her 100-day milestone. “Our ‘third treasure’ is almost 100 days old,” he confirmed, adding that a traditional Hundred-Day Banquet is tentatively planned.
While acknowledging that his workaholic nature consumes much of his personal time—a drive he needs to maintain the physical condition required for extensive concert tours, including upcoming stops in Guangzhou and Suzhou—Kwok expressed his deep happiness in his commitments.
He also addressed media attention surrounding his wife, Moka Fang, after a recent social media share inadvertently revealed parts of their residence. Kwok defended his wife’s choice to share elements of her life, stating she is pursuing her interests alongside her family duties. “Everyone has a home,” he commented. “I respect the media’s attention to detail, but I support her sharing useful things and her everyday routine.”
