Hong Kong Singer Ramon Lo Launches Festive Music Countdown After Concert Success

HONG KONG—Following the enthusiastic reception of his second solo concert, Hong Kong singer Ramon Lo (羅啟豪) has shifted seamlessly into a busy holiday schedule, anchoring his activities with a unique musical advent calendar leading up to Christmas Day. Lo is sustaining momentum from his show, Between You and The Story, with major public appearances, including the Hong Kong Winter Food Festival on December 25th and a radio event the following day, December 26th.

Lo’s innovative “Christmas Music Countdown” series, shared across his social media platforms, transforms the traditional Advent calendar into a digital music box. Each day in December, Lo is releasing one of the Christmas songs he recorded last year for the Stanley Market, featuring classics like “White Christmas” and “The Christmas Song.” The accompanying videos showcase the singer personally decorating his desk daily as the countdown progresses. The climax of this campaign will be the premiere of a brand-new, studio-recorded single on Christmas Day.

Expanding the Holiday Music Catalog

Lo explained the motivation behind the elaborate project, noting that last year’s re-recordings of five classic English Christmas hymns were highly praised not only by his dedicated fanbase, known as “The Lo Shells” (豪殼), but also by international listeners. “This year, I am sharing those five songs again on social media, but I also recorded a special new song,” Lo stated. Combining these releases with the trend of the Christmas countdown calendar, he intends for the new single to be a holiday gift to his audience on December 25th.

Lo harbors aspirations to continue this holiday music initiative, eventually releasing a full Christmas album when the timing is right.

For Lo, Christmas has always been the most anticipated holiday. During his years living and studying abroad, he habitually returned to Hong Kong every December. Beyond visiting family and hosting marathon karaoke sessions with friends, the priority was always local cuisine. “Every year, my family asks what I want for my first meal, and I always request Teochew fishball rice noodles,” he recalled. Reflecting on past misfortunes, Lo revealed a frustrating memory: “I once got sick on Christmas Day for three consecutive years, missing out on those wonderful feast opportunities.” This year, however, the star’s recent concert in early December coincided perfectly with the return of overseas relatives, turning the concert into a large, early family reunion.

From Audition Anxiety to Stage Confidence

The singer is still basking in the glow of his recent concert, marked by several grateful social media posts acknowledging every contributor. He captivated fans by breaking down the five different “Little Prince” theme looks from the show into a visually engaging presentation.

In a moment of vulnerability, Lo also publicly shared a three-year-old video—which he humorously termed his “black history”—from his audition for the popular singing competition, Midlife, Sing! The footage showed a clearly unprepared and inarticulate Lo stammering awkwardly, repeatedly apologizing.

“To go from being unable to utter a single complete sentence in front of the camera back then, to being able to share my heart and mind on the concert stage today, I owe tremendous gratitude to everyone who believed in and supported me along the way,” Lo confessed, highlighting his growth as an artist and public speaker.

Lo’s professional camaraderie was evident when he recently appeared at a Christmas fan gathering hosted by fellow singer Wong Pok-yee (黃博). While initially attending as a guest to “return the favor” after Wong supported his concert, the evening took an unexpected turn. Host Chen Ka-kei spontaneously involved Lo in the performance. “She asked the audience for song requests, and perhaps because they knew I was there, the entire crowd chanted ‘Prison Bird’ (囚鳥),” Lo recounted. With no soundcheck and zero preparation, Lo gracefully took the stage. “Fortunately, Pok-yee and I have good chemistry and I am familiar with the song, so I hope the performance met everyone’s expectations!” he concluded.
