The youngest duo to debut this year in the idol girl group category, IdG 2%, has released their second single “唔准瞓先” (Sleep No More) and secured a surprise collaboration with veteran actress Roland. The pair, 15-year-old Fiona and 18-year-old Elva, had envisioned the track as Halloween-themed and wished for Roland’s involvement. Without the duo’s knowledge, their producer and composer, Abor, discreetly invited the actress, who agreed enthusiastically after hearing the song.
IdG 2% first emerged with their debut single “借啲倚” earlier this year and are recognized as the youngest act in the “偶像女生” (Idol Girl) lineup. Their latest track humorously captures their contrasting sleep habits: Fiona loves staying up late while Elva struggles to rise in the morning. The duo felt the song carried a Halloween atmosphere, sparking their desire for Roland’s iconic voice.
The veteran actress, renowned for her roles in Hong Kong horror cinema including the classic “Madam” series, brought her signature flair to the studio. She playfully tested different voices, starting with her famous character but finding it insufficiently eerie, then switching to a more sinister tone for the final cut. She completed her entire performance in a single take, earning praise from the production team for her professionalism and timing.
When IdG 2% received the special version—which incorporates Roland’s voice as a grotesque “human alarm clock”—they erupted with excitement. “We never dreamed that Mrs. Roland would agree. We’re incredibly moved and overjoyed,” said Fiona. Elva added, “I’ve watched her films since I was a child, and to hear her voice in our song is surreal. I screamed in the street. We feel so honored.”
This collaboration highlights meaningful intergenerational support within the entertainment industry. For IdG 2%, working with a seasoned talent like Roland is a career milestone that demonstrates how established artists can uplift emerging voices. The special edition, titled “唔准瞓先” (Sleep No More) “嘈住你Mix” (featuring Roland), is now streaming across platforms.
The partnership sets a precedent for cross-generational projects, encouraging young performers to pursue ambitious ideas and connect with their influences. It also introduces Roland’s legacy to a younger audience, bridging generational divides in popular culture.
