Anson Lo Unveils Dual Singles, Teases Second Album with Intimate Poolside MV

Hong Kong pop star Anson Lo has launched a dual single project, releasing the upbeat “Goofy” last week followed by the sensual “Midnight Show,” whose music video was filmed at a hotel pool. The singer also surprised fans by announcing his second studio album is in development, promising a more mature artistic evolution.

Dual Singles Explore Love from Day to Night

The project frames love through contrasting timelines, with “Goofy” representing daytime romance and “Midnight Show” capturing late-night intimacy. “This dual single concept uses love as its core,” Lo explained. “Goofy symbolizes daytime, while Midnight Show represents night and deep-night perspectives. It’s about living in the moment and enjoying the present without overthinking—just being with me is enough.”

Solo Vision Drives Music Video Production

Lo took creative control of the “Midnight Show” video, collaborating with longtime director Zhong Weiquan. Despite shooting both singles on the same day under tight budgets, the team maintained high production quality. Lo conceptualized every shot, camera angle, and long take himself, calling the process challenging but rewarding.

He chose to perform alone without backup dancers to preserve the song’s intimate mood. “The song feels like someone singing to listeners before sleep,” Lo said. “To create that closeness, I insisted on handling all the choreography myself, hoping to bridge the distance with the audience.”

Six Months of Training for Visual Impact

The hotel pool setting required Lo to display his physique, prompting a grueling six-month fitness push. “I’ve been working out for years, but started adjusting my goals half a year ago to achieve a leaner, more defined look,” he noted. Through exercise, running, and strict diet control, he maintained the shape seen in the water submersion scene, where he wears a white shirt to reveal muscle lines.

Second Album Promises New Artistic Direction

Lo closed the announcement by revealing his upcoming sophomore album, which will differ sharply from his debut in style and theme. “This album’s aesthetic will be completely different from my first,” he said. “I want to present a more mature Anson Lo.” The project is expected later this year.

This dual single venture underscores Lo’s evolution as an artist, blending personal vision with polished production to deepen fan engagement. His willingness to direct both videos alone and commit to rigorous physical preparation signals a growing maturity that fans eagerly await.
