Singer Feanna marked the premiere of her new rock-tinged single “Hungry” on Wednesday with an interactive fan event in Hong Kong, drawing more than 100 devotees known as “Mantou” for live performances and a playful fried chicken eating contest.
The evening opened with Feanna singing both “Hungry” and “Hey Feanna” for the first time in front of an audience, generating an electric atmosphere. She credited guitarist Howie from the band Dear Jane with crafting the track’s bold rock sound and renowned lyricist Wyman Wong for writing words she described as deeply personal.
The music video shows Feanna eating with abandon, a contrast to her initial shyness during the shoot. Although she identifies as an outgoing personality, she admitted feeling self-conscious about dining in front of others. “Having so many people watch me eat was more nerve-racking than I expected,” she said, adding that the audience’s compliments during the video screening made her laugh heartily.
To recreate the filming experience, the event included a contest where Feanna and several fans raced to finish plates of fried chicken. Feanna surprised herself by winning, crediting her practice from the video shoot. The runner-up—a male fan—was rewarded with Feanna personally feeding him the final piece, drawing cheers from the crowd. Other participants received limited-edition mystery boxes.
The song’s core message of balance was woven throughout the night. Feanna explained that overindulgence—whether in food or emotions—can lead to discomfort or strain, urging everyone to recognize their limits. She also cautioned against eating too quickly, emphasizing the importance of savoring meals.
When asked about future eating challenges with fellow celebrities, Feanna nominated actors Ryan Cheng and Lai Ying as ideal competitors, while joking that veteran singer Ekin Cheng would likely advise against rushing meals. She also stressed that no food was wasted during production, with the entire crew consuming the props.
Looking ahead, Feanna is preparing for her first solo concert next month, which will feature all standing tickets. She is focusing on stamina and curating a setlist heavy on uptempo tracks, covers, and emotional pieces. “I’m nervous but excited,” she said. “I want fans to come ready to move and cheer.”
The event underscored Feanna’s ability to blend entertainment with meaningful themes, reinforcing her connection with fans while promoting a mindful lifestyle.
