TVB Plus Poll Crowns “The Exorcist’s Meter” as Fan-Favorite Fantasy Series

Hong Kong – TVB Plus has announced the winner of its interactive viewer poll, “Dian Ju Cheng Zhen,” which asked audiences to choose their favorite classic fantasy drama. After two weeks of enthusiastic voting, “The Exorcist’s Meter” (known locally as “The Exorcist’s Meter: The Taxi Driver”) emerged victorious. The series will begin airing on TVB Plus (Channel 82) starting Tuesday, April 13, with episodes scheduled Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 10:30 p.m.

The poll featured four iconic supernatural dramas from TVB’s library: “The Exorcist’s Meter,” starring Kenneth Ma and Mandy Wong; “The Bride with White Hair,” featuring Kevin Cheng and Kay Tse; “The Twelve Legends,” with Edwin Siu and Rosina Lam; and “Barrack O’Karma,” headlined by Joel Chan and Selena Li. Voter response was robust, ultimately favoring “The Exorcist’s Meter,” which stars Kenneth Ma as a taxi driver and Mandy Wong as a complex character caught between humanity and demonic forces.

“The Exorcist’s Meter” follows the story of taxi driver Ma Chai, played by Kenneth Ma, who accidentally awakens a stone spirit known as “Shi Jing Ling,” portrayed by Hubert Wu. Forced into a new destiny as an exorcist, Ma Chai discovers a hidden talent for hunting supernatural entities. With the stone spirit’s guidance, he combats evil creatures while navigating his ordinary life behind the wheel. His mission becomes deeply personal as he strives to protect Dr. Chuk Yeuk, a physician he admires (played by Mandy Wong), and avenge the death of his close friend Long Cat, portrayed by Ho Yuen Tung.

The series blends horror, action, and emotional drama, tracing Ma Chai’s transformation from an unassuming driver into a solitary, steadfast hero of the night. Themes of sacrifice, loss, and duty drive the narrative, as Ma Chai must abandon his mundane existence to confront the darkness lurking in Hong Kong’s shadows.

The selection underscores TVB’s strategy of engaging its audience through interactive programming, allowing fans to shape which classics return to the airwaves. “The Exorcist’s Meter” originally aired in 2017 and has since gained a cult following for its inventive mix of urban legend and heartfelt storytelling.

With its victory, the series will now receive a fresh broadcast slot on TVB Plus, targeting viewers eager for nostalgic yet thrilling content. The network has not yet announced whether other poll contenders will receive similar encore runs, but the strong voter turnout suggests sustained appetite for supernatural dramas.

For fans of Hong Kong television, the return of “The Exorcist’s Meter” offers a chance to revisit a modern classic—or discover it for the first time—as TVB Plus continues to leverage audience participation to curate its programming lineup.
