HONG KONG — Hong Kong singer Kayee Tam surprised fans last month with news of her engagement, and on Wednesday she offered a glimpse of the luxurious traditional betrothal ceremony that followed. The 38-year-old, who left TVB after 14 years to become an independent artist, shared photos of the elaborate “guo da li” (betrothal gift exchange) at her home, coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival.
A Grand Display of Tradition
In the images posted on social media, Tam was dressed in a red off-the-shoulder dress, beaming as she made a heart sign with her hands next to her fiancé. The couple posed with their pet cat and embraced in front of a towering “囍” (double happiness) backdrop. Friend and former Miss Hong Kong winners Jennifer Yu and Yvette Wong were also present to witness the occasion.
The ceremony featured an extraordinary array of gifts, precisely arranged on tables.
