Hong Kong actress Leung Ka-wing, best known to audiences as a former host of TVB’s children’s programs “After School ICU” and “Think Big天地,” has officially ended her long-running tenure with the city’s top broadcaster. The 40-something performer, affectionately nicknamed “Big Head Girl” by fans, announced her departure on social media, closing a chapter that spanned more than two decades.
Leung, who also competed in the “All-Round Emcee Competition 2022,” shared an emotional farewell message online, describing her exit as a graduation of sorts. “I’ve finally graduated~ At this moment, I really don’t know what to write… to express myself! From attending the artist training class to this year… this little lady has walked over twenty years, starting from the bottom, from a small potato to being recognized by everyone… Thank you to the directors/friends who have used me. The memories of filming are so full, they feel like they happened yesterday. I miss the old days when we would go to work together, a whole team shooting an entire series!”
In her post, Leung reflected on the passage of time with a familiar Cantonese idiom: “There are truly how many decades in a lifetime? I’ve walked two already! I never thought I would say goodbye like this. There is reluctance, yes, but I truly love acting, and I hope to continue acting in the future. I’ve hosted before, and I’ve competed in the All-Round Emcee competition. I hope to develop in many aspects in the future. Remember me… My name is Leung Ka-wing, and I am an actress.”
