ViuTV’s New Show ‘Helping You Along the Way’ Debuts Sept. 21 With Team of Hosts Tackling Real-Life Wishes

HONG KONG — ViuTV will launch a new daily series, Helping You Along the Way (沿路幫緊你), on Sept. 21, airing weeknights at 10:30 p.m. The program sends five hosts across Hong Kong to fulfill emotional, often surprising, requests from ordinary people — from organizing a marriage proposal to assembling a cheerleading squad for an amateur football team.

The show’s core mission, according to the network, is simple: “helping” as a genuine, hands-on commitment. Each episode follows the hosts as they receive assignments from members of the public, then step in to turn those wishes into reality.

A Team of Five Hosts

The lineup features Jennifer Yu (余香凝), Lin Mei-kuen (練美娟, known as “Juen Jie”), Shirley Sham (沈殷怡), Amby Lok (岑樂怡, called “Ah Mui”), and Phoebus Ng (吳啟洋). At a press conference on Tuesday, four of the five hosts — Lin, Sham, Lok, and Ng — shared behind-the-scenes stories from the production, describing a range of assignments that moved them to laughter and tears.

“Every time we go out, we have to roll up our sleeves and solve problems alongside the person who asked for help,” one host said. “Walking that path with them gave us deep personal insight.”

From Proposals to Cheerleading Squads

The cases featured in the series span a wide emotional spectrum. In one episode, the team helps a man stage a surprise proposal. In another, they recruit and train a cheerleading squad for a local American-football team. A third mission involves fulfilling the musical dreams of a young child who loves to sing.

The show also benefits from guest appearances. The hosts revealed that various celebrities joined filming to lend a hand, adding extra firepower to the wish-granting efforts.

Interactive Fun at Launch Event

During Tuesday’s press event, the four hosts took part in a lighthearted interactive segment. Each wrote down a personal wish, and the others brainstormed aloud — often with comic results — about who among their friends, colleagues, or even the television staff could help make it happen. The group playfully “assigned” tasks to specific people, eliciting laughs from the audience.

The segment was designed to mirror the show’s spirit: that helping others often begins with a conversation, a little creativity, and the willingness to reach out.

Broader Impact: A Growing Trend in Human-Interest TV

Helping You Along the Way joins a wave of feel-good, community-focused programming in Hong Kong’s television landscape. In an era when audiences increasingly seek authentic, uplifting content, shows that spotlight everyday kindness resonate strongly — especially when they feature celebrities stepping out of their comfort zones.

For viewers, the series offers not only entertainment but also inspiration. Each episode demonstrates that a small act of assistance can create a ripple effect, encouraging others to look for ways to support those around them.
