Hong Kong – The newly crowned Miss Hong Kong winners – champion Yuan Siheng, first runner-up Deng Kuangmin, and second runner-up Li Zexin – opened up about their pageant journeys and career plans during a radio interview on Tuesday with veteran host Xue Jiayan on Metro Radio.
The trio revealed they have already landed their first commercial shoots. Yuan and Li collaborated on a bank safe-deposit box advertisement, while Deng filmed a spot for a dental clinic. Yuan, who has stage acting experience, said she hopes to transition to on-screen roles that demand nuanced facial expressions. “I love performing, and I entered the pageant specifically to pursue acting,” said Li, visibly excited. Deng, meanwhile, admitted that a director criticized her performance as “fake” during the shoot. “I want to act, but some people say I come across as insincere,” she said. “I’m not sure if I’m suited for it, but I hope to receive formal training at the TVB actors’ class to improve.”
The interview also touched on the winners’ connection to Mac Zhihang, a friend of Yuan who recently won the TVB reality show Battle of Destiny. Yuan praised Mac’s performance and revealed he had long offered her guidance, including predicting that her entertainment career would flourish over the next decade. “He introduced me to my previous job at an amusement park and even helped edit my talent performance song for the pageant,” Yuan said. However, she stressed that their relationship is strictly professional: “He has a girlfriend who works at the same amusement park.”
Deng and Li, however, declined Mac’s fortune-telling services. “I’ve heard that reading your fate too often can actually make it thinner,” Deng joked. Li added firmly, “I only trust myself.”
The three winners are now navigating the early stages of their entertainment careers, balancing public appearances with the pressure of public scrutiny. Industry observers note that their willingness to discuss acting ambitions and personal boundaries reflects a new generation of beauty queens seeking control over their narratives.
As they take their first steps into show business, all three voiced a desire for authentic growth. “I want to earn a role through hard work, not just rely on a title,” said Yuan.
