Chan chose Chung Yee, daughter of veteran Hong Kong singer Kenny Bee, to perform the track. The selection was deeply personal.
“Ten years ago, we invited Leo Ku to sing ‘Dear Leslie,'” Chan explained in a statement. “This time, we wanted a voice connected to Leslie somehow.”
Chung Yee, who grew up performing onstage alongside her father, impressed organizers with her vocal abilities. “We are very fortunate to have found this young girl to interpret this song for Leslie,” Chan added. “We hope Leslie would have liked it.”
