HONG KONG – Former Miss Hong Kong third runner-up Tracy Chu is seven months pregnant and made a public appearance Wednesday at a yogurt brand event, joined by actress Yoyo Chen, who recently celebrated her 45th birthday. Chu, already mother to a two-year-old son, revealed she is due in November and hopes to deliver naturally, admitting she lacks the courage for a cesarean section.
Defying her husband’s wishes, Chu confessed to wearing high heels to the event for the sake of appearance. “I didn’t tell him,” she joked. When asked whether she hoped for a daughter to complete a “good” set of one boy and one girl, Chu remained coy. “I don’t know! But a boy or girl is fine—it doesn’t matter,” she said, adding that the pregnancy was planned. “My son just turned two. I wanted him to have a sibling, so I didn’t want to wait too long.”
Originally envisioning three children, Chu now says two is enough. She noted that her husband is thrilled about becoming a father again. “He’s more excited than I am,” she said with a laugh. “He really enjoys taking the kids to preschool, but he works a lot and can’t always go. I tell him, ‘You go for it! Mommy is tired.’”
Chu’s Son Unaware of Upcoming Sibling
Chu shared that she has told her son he will be a big brother, but it remains unclear whether he understands. “He doesn’t know things are going to change,” she said. “Maybe when someone starts sleeping next to him, or when he hears another baby crying, he’ll get it. I’m not sure if he’ll be jealous. Right now, he is very clingy—maybe he senses a new family member is coming.”
Yoyo Chen’s Birthday Wish and Motherhood Reflections
Chen, who attended the event with Chu, praised her for choosing natural childbirth, recalling that she opted for a C-section when giving birth to her daughter 14 years ago. The actress recently posted photos of herself dressed as a “Western Region princess” on social media to mark her birthday, a long-held dream inspired by a childhood wish to shoot pictures in Xinjiang.
“I finally got the chance to go there,” Chen said. “Even though I was covered from head to toe, the photos got a lot of likes.” Her birthday wishes include more work opportunities and new experiences. She described her teenage daughter as exceptionally thoughtful, preparing homemade pasta for breakfast on her birthday, gifting a hand-drawn mother-daughter sketch, and buying a cake and flowers to celebrate.
Chu’s second child is expected to arrive next month, as she continues balancing family life with selective public appearances.
