HONG KONG – South Korean girl group NMIXX is set to perform two nights in Hong Kong this weekend, but the shows face potential disruption as Tropical Cyclone Toraji approaches the region. Organizers announced a contingency plan Friday based on when—or if—local authorities lower storm warnings.
The six-member act, scheduled to perform Saturday and Sunday at AsiaWorld-Expo on Lantau Island, arrived in Hong Kong Thursday to prepare. However, with the Hong Kong Observatory monitoring the storm system, concert promoter Live Nation HK outlined specific conditions for the event’s proceeding.
Storm Schedule Determines Show Status
According to the advisory, the Soundcheck event and the main concert will go ahead as planned if the Hong Kong Observatory cancels the No. 8 or higher tropical cyclone warning signal by 1:59 p.m. on the day of the performance. Should the warning remain in effect past 2 p.m., or if authorities forecast it will be hoisted within hours, both the Soundcheck and the concert will be canceled.
In the event of cancellation, organizers said they would announce postponement or refund details at a later date. The group’s first world tour, titled Episode 1: Zero Frontier, marks NMIXX’s debut headlining run outside of South Korea.
Safety Protocols for Attendees
If the storm warning is issued while the concert is already underway, Live Nation HK advised fans to remain inside the venue until further notice. “To ensure the safety of all audience members, please stay inside the venue,” the promoter said in a statement, adding that attendees may leave only once outdoor conditions are deemed safe and transportation services are operating normally. Further updates would be posted on the company’s social media channels.
The venue, AsiaWorld-Expo, is located near Hong Kong International Airport and is connected to the city’s MTR rail network, but storm conditions could disrupt public transport and road access.
