Mike Tsang Prioritizes New Music, Seeks Culinary Mentorship After Label Switch

Hong Kong singer Mike Tsang, known for his distinctive voice and recent transformation, announced his immediate focus is on releasing new material following his move to Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG). Speaking at a celebratory event for the reality show Crazy Celebrity Socializing on Sunday, Tsang detailed his efforts to collaborate with various departments within his new label and expressed a playful desire to learn cooking from a high-profile colleague.

The singer, who gained prominence after his appearance on a mainland Chinese talent show, confirmed he is currently in discussions with EEG to strategize and expand his discography. While eager to collaborate with any of his established label mates, Tsang jokingly singled out celebrated actor and chef, Nicholas Tse, for specialized instruction.

“They are all my esteemed seniors, and it would be a pleasure to work with any of them,” Tsang stated. “But personally, I only know how to boil instant noodles. I truly hope Brother Nicholas Tse can teach me some proper culinary skills.”

Image Evolution and Fitness Journey

Tsang also addressed the recent public interest in his physical transformation, specifically the resurfacing of older photographs compared to his current image. He emphasized that the changes were not a conscious attempt to manufactured a new persona but rather the natural result of an ongoing commitment to health and fitness.

The singer revealed a significant weight loss journey, stating that his peak weight exceeded 180 pounds. Over the course of more than a year, he successfully shed approximately 30 pounds, maintaining a current weight close to 150 pounds.

“I haven’t deliberately tried to create an image; I just maintained my fitness for my health,” Tsang explained, adding with a smile: “Unless it’s for a concert, I might need to dress a bit more conservatively in the future.”

This commitment to fitness recently culminated in a surprise reveal, as Tsang reluctantly displayed his abs in a professional photoshoot. He admitted the reveal was unplanned and only complied with the photographer’s specific request due to his self-described conservative nature.

When asked about his girlfriend’s opinion on his new look, Tsang responded lightheartedly. “The most important thing is that I look handsome,” he quipped. “‘Good to hug,’ you ask? Of course. Perhaps I’m slightly more toned now.”

Career Milestones and Future Sound

Beyond his personal journey, Tsang highlighted the significance of his inaugural major assignment with EEG: performing at the opening ceremony of the National Games of China.

“Everyone has been very supportive of me,” he noted. “I am truly grateful to the company for this opportunity, which even allowed me to experience celebrating my birthday while working.”

Regarding his musical future, Tsang emphasized the desire to explore diverse genres rather than immediately focusing on performance-heavy dance tracks that might showcase his physique. While fans might anticipate seeing him incorporate fast-paced choreography with his revealed abs, Tsang suggested a slower approach to full-fledged dance performances.

“Performing dance tracks might be a little later,” he explained. “At this stage, I want to try different music styles.” He humorously added that he is still getting used to showing his forehead, and fast dancing might cause his signature fringe to fly around. Tsang’s current focus remains on leveraging his powerful vocal talent and newly established label support to build a robust and varied musical catalog for his rapidly growing fanbase across Asia.
